The Forgotten ones.

The Forgotten ones. Small narratives and modern landscapes.

Anna Lihammer

The Forgotten ones. Small narratives and modern landscapes.

The master narratives of history tell the success saga of modern society, characterized by technological development, science and democracy.

Beyond that, many groups are virtually excluded from these master narratives of history, people who for various reasons were stigmatized, demonized, secret or simply forgotten, in life as in history.

The Forgotten ones aims to investigate and analyse the archaeological material of some more or less invisible groups and focus on the potential to change standard historical narratives that are inherent in the material record. This includes, for example, the material remains of people who lived in the slum areas of Swedish cities at the time of the industrial revolution, groups made into social others and stigmatized by mainstream society, such as the Travellers, and the invisible people of the post-medieval agrarian society, such as the lowest-ranking agricultural labourers of the smallest crofts.

Communicate the Past. Ways to present archaeology to the public.
